Apple Launches ‘Apps for Earth’ with World Wildlife Fund

Apple has just given the iOS App Store a very green makeover, having launched its eco-friendly initiative Apps for Earth. From now until April 24, all proceeds raised through purchases within participating apps will go to the world’s leading conservation organization the World Wildlife Fund.

Prominent among these apps is, of course, WWF Together – the organization’s own app through which Earth’s story can be purchased, with 100% of the financial returns going to the WWF. This in-app purchase enables you to enjoy a 360-panoramic image of the planet from space; there are also opportunities to play with digital water and capture and share photos with the origami planet.

Many of the other participating apps have been updated with new goodies and content as part of the Apps for Earth campaign. Among the most notable such apps are Angry Birds 2, which now has a special level on the theme of ocean conservation, and MARVEL Contest of Champions. Within this game, buy the WWF Power Pack and you can follow Hulk, She-Hulk, Groot and Rocket Racoon on an anti-pollution quest.

Other apps joining the campaign include Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Trivia Crack and Yoga Studio. You can learn more about the World Wildlife Fund’s work by heading to its official website.
