Apple Music to Continue Pursuit of Streaming Exclusives

Apple Music has developed a reputation for making a lengthy line of exciting new music releases available for streaming before competing services such as Spotify – and there could be many more such exclusives to come, Apple Music boss Jimmy Iovine has hinted.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, the former Interscope Records chief executive reflected on the exclusives, from high profile artists including Taylor Swift and Drake, that Apple Music has won so far. He enthused that “we’ve had some real successes”, adding: “We’re feeling our way around and seeing what works … Every time we do [an exclusive], we learn something new.”

That learning experience should hold Apple Music in good stead as it furthers its goal, as declared by Iovine, of amassing further exclusives from music industry partners such as the Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Iovine insisted: “It’s Appleā€™s show. As long as Apple’s asking me to do what I’m doing, I’m gonna keep doing it.”

However, you shouldn’t expect a predictable story to unfold for Apple Music in the future. Iovine admitted that “the stuff we’re creating I don’t think anyone is gonna see coming.”
