Apple News launches 2018 Winter Olympics features section

The 2018 Winter Olympics is finally here and Apple is helping its users keep up to date with the latest games news. Apple News is a go-to source for all Olympics News as the most highly anticipated winter sports competition, taking place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, gets underway.

In the Apple News app, there is a new section dedicated solely to the Olympics, within the ‘For You’ tab, in the United States. This section of the app, will give alerts, show articles, videos and more for the entirety of the two weeks. You can even track medals using the app and using the News widget on iPhone and iPad you can track results without launching the app.

The app will give users daily briefings each morning and recap any events you miss, as South Korea is quite a few hours ahead of the United States. This new section is in partnership with NBC, however, the app will show coverage from a whole range of sources, as well as content created by the Apple News editor. Users can track up-to-the-minute coverage of the games and enjoy graphics made specifically for Apple News.

Apple is not the only one helping users stay up to date with the games as Snapchat announced they will be providing “two-to-six-minute live segments of key moments in sports such as figure skating and skiing”. Snapchat is also working in partnership with NBC.
