Apple has announced a new short film, executive produced by Jony Ive.

Apple Original Films will stream The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse later this year on Apple TV+. The short is based on the internationally best-selling book of the same name by celebrated author Charlie Mackesy.

The title will be released on the platform on Christmas Day (December 25) around the world.

The film will see Mackesy’s illustrations brought to life in full color with beautiful hand-drawn animation. It features BAFTA Award winner Tom Hollander, Golden Globe and SAG Award winner Idris Elba, Golden Globe Award winner Gabriel Byrne, and newcomer Jude Coward Nicoll.

Speaking of the film, Charlie Mackesy, said: “The journey of making the film of ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ with my incredibly gifted animation team has been a magical one.

“I never dreamt it would happen — but it’s so moving to think the story will be watched at Christmas. I really hope it brings a bit of joy, laughter and comfort.”
