Apple is planning to launch three new OLED display iPhones in 2020, according to reports.

An article in Digitimes suggests that Apple is planning to keep its iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR lineup for 2019, but that it will replace the iPhone XR with an OLED display in 2020 to reduce costs and improve the quality of its screen resolutions.

In 2020, the new iPhones will feature all-new screen sizes – 5.42-inch, 6.06-inch, and 6.67-inch – and the firm will switch to OLED displays exclusively for the future models.

The new screen resolutions and sizes would signal major design changes for the iPhone, with a 6.67-inch display being the latest iPhone ever released – at least in terms of its screen size.

However, depending on Appleā€™s design, the size of the phone may not be much bigger than the current iPhone XS Max, as the company could reduce glass bezels and borders.

A new iPhone SE-style model?

The idea of a 5.42-inch model is particularly noteworthy, making it smaller than the iPhone XSā€™s current 5.8-inch display.

Apple has long been rumored to release a successor to the iPhone SE, and whilst design and innovation mean the firm will never likely reintroduce Touch ID on the iPhone, a smaller screen size could appease fans of the SE.

Itā€™s important to note that DigiTimes isnā€™t always accurate – indeed, the firm recently said that Apple was to release AirPower in March, only for the company to pull the plug on the project the week later.

However, these rumors are the most interesting and legitimate yet, and the magazineā€™s sources appear to be genuine. With the iPhone 2020 more than a year and a half away from public release, Apple will likely make several changes to the product before itā€™s unveiled.
