Apple planning to announce AR/VR headset “before WWDC”

Apple Vision Pro Headset

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s highly anticipated AR/VR headset is expected to be announced in the spring, before the WWDC conference in June.

This information aligns with the predictions of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has stated that the device will go on sale later in the fall of 2023. Gurman reports that prototype hardware has already been given to a small group of developers for testing purposes, but the device is still in development and Apple has yet to resolve a number of issues with the hardware and software. It appears that the original timeline for the device’s unveiling, which was set for January, has been pushed back.

If the AR/VR headset is indeed announced in the spring, it is likely that Apple will provide developers with more detailed resources and tools at the WWDC conference in June.

Apple VR Headset - Release Date, Specs, & Features

This conference is a popular event for developers and is typically used as a platform for Apple to announce new products and technologies. In addition to the AR/VR headset, Gurman also mentions that the Mac roadmap includes an Apple Silicon Mac Pro, M2 spec bumps for the MacBook Pro, and a potential 15-inch size for the MacBook Air.

It seems that the AirPods and Apple Watch lines will not see significant updates, but a new, larger HomePod is expected to be released this year with a design similar to the 2018 model.

It is worth noting that Gurman mentions that other projects within Apple have been delayed as the company has “roped in resources” from other departments to work on the AR/VR headset.

This indicates that Apple is placing a significant emphasis on the development of this product and is willing to prioritize it over other projects. The upcoming AR/VR headset is sure to be a highly anticipated release and will be interesting to see how it compares to other products in the market.
