Apple is reportedly planning to release a new Mac Pro with an M2 Extreme chip in 2023.
The company has been slowly updating its Mac line-up with new designs and the power of the M-series chips, but there’s still one Mac product category that’s yet to be given the treatment. The Mac Pro, which has been teased several times by Apple, will finally enter into production and be released in 2023, according to a report.
It had previously been expected that the Mac Pro would arrive this year, but a new report from Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter suggests that the release has been pushed back to 2023. The new model will feature an all-new design and chips that are between two and four times as powerful as the M2 Max, which is yet to be released, and it could be called the M2 Ultra or M2 Extreme.
Rumors suggest the chips will offer 24 or 48 CPU cores, 76 to 152 graphics cores and up to 256GB of memory.
Apple is also planning to release updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and there’s a Mac mini update in the works with a new M2 chip. The Mac mini will also have a design overhaul for the first time, featuring a new plexiglass-like top cover and rubber feet.
