Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its next-generation headphones online in May.
The company reportedly planned to release the AirPods 3 in March at its rumored Special Event, but this was understandably canceled following the coronavirus outbreak around the world.
Now, it seems Apple is planning to drop the new headphones online next month.
Reliable Apple reporter Jon Prosser has suggested that Apple will release the AirPods 3 at some point in the next month, though he added that he was unsure of specific timings.
We know very little about the new features that may be included on the new AirPods, though it might be that Apple moves the standard earphones over to the same in-ear design that the AirPods Pro now use, albeit without the Active Noise Cancelation technology of the premium model.
Earlier in the year, it was suggested by publication DigiTimes that Apple was working on an AirPods Pro Lite.
Though, at the time, we didn’t receive much information about what a new “Lite” model could be, reading between the lines could suggest a lower-cost earphone in the same chassis as the AirPods Pro, which would also allow Apple to cut costs on the device.
Speaking on Twitter, Prosser says that Apple will announce the new AirPods as well as a 13-inch MacBook Pro.
He added that Apple will use WWDC to show off its new StudioPods, Apple-branded headphones that will compete with premium brands such as Bose and Beats.
New AirPods (which were supposed to be at the March Event) are now ready to go.
Probably alongside the MacBook Pro next month.
