Apple is to release an exclusive range of AirPods Pro models to celebrate Chinese New Year this February.

Chinese New Year is celebrated on February 1 in China, and the company has released an exclusive AirPods Pro model in the country, featuring a custom-designed tiger emoji which customers in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao can order from the Apple website or from their local Apple Store over the coming weeks.

In the Chinese calendar, 2022 is the year of the tiger, and so the special-edition AirPods Pro feature a unique tiger emoji that’s been designed in-house at Apple. It’s been printed onto the wireless charging case, with a more prominent red tiger printed onto the AirPods Pro box, serving as a great collector’s item for Apple fans in China.

When customers purchase the limited edition model at an Apple Store, they’ll also receive a set of 12 envelopes, each with the Chinese zodiac sign printed in emoji form. It’s a tradition in China to gift red envelopes to family and friends, and so they can be used to pass on gifts such as money and gift cards to loved ones in February.

Apple has also announced a Beats by Dre collaboration for Chinese New Year, offering a limited edition set of its Studio Buds earphones for consumers to enjoy over the period.
