Apple has released the first beta of iOS 15.2, just days after iOS 15.1 was released to the public.
The new beta adds new features that were originally scheduled to come with iOS 15 but were delayed due to issues behind the scenes, further improving the operating system and adding more functionality.
Perhaps one of the biggest features to arrive in the iOS 15.2 beta is the App Privacy Report feature inside of the Settings app. Although the interface has been available in previous releases, no data was shown, but with the latest beta, users can now see what data applications and companies have accessed, including both third-party applications and Apple’s own applications like Maps, Mail, and Photos.
“iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 introduced the Record App Activity feature in the privacy settings, allowing people to save a summary of sensor, data, and internet access by apps on their device,” Apple says in the release notes for the new beta.
“In iOS 15.2 beta and iPadOS 15.2 Beta, this activity is presented in Settings in a new UI called App Privacy Report. This is a great opportunity to review your app’s sensor, data, and internet usage. To view your activity in the report, go to Settings > Privacy > App Privacy Report > Turn On App Privacy Report. Activity will show once you use your app,” the company added.
Apple has also changed the Auto Call feature as part of this beta. Users can now set Auto Call to use one of two methods – they can either hold the side button together with the volume button or press the side button rapidly, multiple times. Previously, Apple allowed users to rapidly press the side button five times, and on the iPhone X, XS, 11, 12, and 13 range, hold the side button and volume button. By offering users the ability to try both methods, it streamlines the approach across the board.
