Apple Releases macOS Sierra with Siri, Apple Pay and More

Apple has released macOS Sierra, the latest version of its operating system for the Mac, to the public. Sierra is available as a free update for many Mac users, who can now enjoy Apple Pay functionality, the virtual personal assistant Siri, and other new features on their Mac.

On a Mac, users can call upon Siri by clicking on one of the Siri icons or typing a keyboard command. From a discreet interface at the display’s right-hand side, Siri can act on various requests, including those to find particular files, without taking all of your attention away from other apps that you may be busy using – making it a fantastic tool for multitasking.

Apple Pay is also now available on the Mac. The service can be used to make more streamlined and secure payments on websites, including Apple’s, which offer Apple Pay as a payment option at checkout. Payments are authorized through a paired iPhone or Apple Watch.

macOS Sierra is available to download from the Mac App Store for iMac and MacBook models from 2009 and later and MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini and Mac Pro models from 2010 and later. Apple’s website includes many more details about what new to expect with macOS Sierra.
