Apple’s release of the iOS 7.0.6 was rushed to give hardware owners protection against vulnerability to intercepted communications, ZDnet reported Saturday.

ZDnet said the vulnerability in the software system includes any Apple hardware, including phones, computers and other devices.

The patch was released for iPhone generations four and five, fifth generation iPod touch devices, and second generation iPad devices, ZDnet reported.

Apple has not released a patch for computers, so they remain vulnerable, various security experts have concluded. Apple has not released a statement on when a patch can be expected.

The security gap allows transmissions to be intercepted and even tampered with, ZDnet said.
