Apple reopening most of its UK and Northern Ireland stores today

Apple is reopening most of its UK and Northern Ireland stores today (Monday, June 15).

The company has confirmed that the stores will reopen, but under new coronavirus-related social distancing rules and enhanced hygiene procedures.

The openings follow the rest of the UK retail sector, which was given the green light to reopen following months of lockdown.

Speaking to The Independent, a spokesperson for Apple said: ā€œWe’re excited to begin welcoming visitors back to our stores in England and Northern Ireland on Monday. We’ve missed our customers and look forward to offering our support.ā€

ā€œWith many working and learning from home we look forward to providing the service and support they need, whether that be picking up a new product or getting help with one they already own,ā€ the statement continues. ā€œOur newly reopened stores have significant safety procedures including temperature checks, social distancing, and face coverings to ensure customers and employees continue to stay healthy.ā€

Apple has confirmed that there will be new social distancing protocols in-store and a strict limit on the number of customers allowed into the store at any one time. Customers may, therefore, have to queue before entering the retail outlet, and when they do enter, their temperature will be checked as part of the coronavirus precautions.

All stores in England are reopening today, but stores in Scotland and Wales are yet to receive the green light. These include Aberdeen, Cardiff St David’s, Edinburgh, Princes Street, Glasgow, Braehead and Glasgow, Buchanan Street, which was recently renamed to simply Apple Glasgow following Black Lives Matter protests.
