Apple reportedly delays AR/VR headset due to software issues

Apple has reportedly delayed the launch of its AR/VR headset due to software issues.

The company had originally launched to launch the device in January 2023, but now it appears as though the launch will take place in the second half of 2023 due to “software-related issues”. That’s according to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has offered running commentary on Apple’s upcoming virtual reality headset.

According to Kuo, Apple will still begin mass shipments of the headset in the first half of the year but added that fully assembled headsets won’t begin until the second half of the year. This could now mean that Apple will use WWDC 2023 to announce the device and launch an SDK so developers can create their own applications for it.

Kuo also shared some interesting information on the rumored January 2023 announcement: although Apple has not yet totally ruled out an early announcement, he believes a long period between the announcement and shipments could impact sales.
