Apple reportedly interested in acquiring Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine

Two people sit in front of a colorful backdrop with large, partially visible letters. The person on the left has long, brown hair and is wearing a black outfit. The person on the right, possibly discussing recent negative reviews of "The Morning Show," has short, gray hair, glasses, and is wearing a suit with a patterned tie.

Apple has reportedly expressed interest in buying Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production firm.

Apple and other “big industry names” have reportedly considered bidding for the firm, according to sources close to the matter. The Wall Street Journal has reported that the company is working with bankers to explore a potential sale. The firm could be valued at as much as $1 billion thanks to a string of successful shows.

As well as Little Fires Everywhere and Big Little Lies, Hello Sunshine is responsible for Apple TV+ shows such as The Morning Show and Surface, with new titles The Last Thing He Told Me and My Kind of Country coming soon.

Although we don’t know exactly how or why Apple is interested in the firm, it’s likely because it’s producing a number of Apple TV+ shows, including the successful hit The Morning Show which stars Reese Witherspoon.

An acquisition would help Apple add to its content roster, as the streaming service battle heats up. Companies are working harder than ever to source quality content and exclusives that can encourage consumers to stay loyal to their brand, and considering Apple has struggled to attract an audience so far, an acquisition is needed.

Amazon, for example, last month confirmed an $8 billion deal to buy MGM, something Apple had considered.
