Apple’s latest iteration of the popular Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Ultra, has received positive reviews since its release a few months ago. While the product was initially targeted towards extreme sports enthusiasts, it has gained a wider audience due to its larger screen size and longer battery life.
In fact, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong Intl Tech Research believes that Apple has plans to bring Micro LED technology to the Apple Watch Ultra in the future, potentially leading to an even larger display for the device.
However, the 2023 models of the Apple Watch may not be as exciting for those hoping for major updates. Pu predicts that sales for the Apple Watch may drop in 2023 due to a lack of significant improvements in terms of specs. This is in contrast to the Apple Watch Series 8, which only saw minor additions such as a body temperature sensor and Crash Detection feature.
But those willing to hold off on purchasing a new Apple Watch may be rewarded with more significant updates in the future. Pu claims that the 2024 Apple Watch Ultra is likely to feature a Micro LED panel, which has the potential for higher brightness levels and improved color accuracy compared to OLED displays.
Apple has reportedly been working on integrating Micro LED technology into some of its products, and the Apple Watch could be the first to receive this display due to its status as the company’s first device with an OLED display. In addition to the Micro LED panel, the 2024 Apple Watch Ultra is rumored to have a larger 2.1-inch display, an increase from the current model’s 1.93 inches.
This increase in screen size may not necessarily result in a larger overall watch, as Apple could choose to decrease the size of the bezels.
There have also been rumors that Apple is exploring the possibility of adding blood glucose and blood pressure sensors to the Apple Watch, although it is unclear when these features will be available. What do you hope to see included in this year’s release? Let us know and check back soon for more.
