Apple reportedly planning November event to unveil new Mac

Apple is reportedly planning a third virtual event for November to show off its new SIlicon Mac, following September’s event for iPads and Apple Watches, and October’s event for the iPhone 12. Apple previously announced the first ARM-based Mac would launch this year.

According to Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record when it comes to Apple information, Apple will host a special event on November 17. The company will use the presentation to announce new Mac devices, including the first with an Apple Silicon chip, which will replace Intel-based processors.

Apple said that it will begin phasing out Intel in the coming two years but that it still had Intel-based devices in the pipeline, with some to be released before 2021.

Prosser suggests that Apple will announce the event the week before on November 10, which would follow what the company did for previous events in September and October.

It also corresponds to a previous suggestion from Bloomberg that Apple would drop Macs in November, though there had been some speculation that the firm would do so in October.

Apple first announced Apple Silicon Macs back at WWDC 2020 in June, which would bring the Mac range in line with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and other products. The company did confirm that the first Silicon-based Mac would launch this year, but offered no specifics.

In a separate report, Prosser confirmed that Apple would launch its AirTags next month, but said that the long-awaited AirPods Studio headphones could be delayed until March 2021.
