Apple reportedly preparing for September 7 iPhone event

Apple is reportedly planning to host its next event on September 7.

The company will hold its famous ‘iPhone Event’ on September 7, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, designed to show off the new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and iPhone 14 Max, as well as the Apple Watch Series 8 and the much-rumored rugged Apple Watch Pro.

September 7 falls on a Wednesday – although Tuesday is usually the day when Apple holds its special event, it has held Wednesday events in the past, like in 2007, 2012, 2015, and 2018.

Apple is expected to make some minor changes to the iPhone this year, and some more significant improvements to the iPhone Pro. Indeed, the Pro and Pro Max models will feature a new pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout and an A16 chip, whilst the standard model will see an improved chip and some new color options to better differentiate between the standard and Pro models. Apple is also expected to announce an iPhone 14 Max, featuring a 6.7-inch display without the Pro Max features like a larger camera and improved processor.

When it comes to the Apple Watch, we’re likely to see the Apple Watch Series 8 and perhaps an all-new rugged Apple Watch, rumored to be called the Apple Watch Pro. It will feature a larger body, a new design, and a rugged build, designed to appeal to professional athletes.

Apple typically announces its September event the week beforehand, so we could hear confirmation from the company as soon as next week. As with last year and indeed other events Apple has held in 2022, this event will be pre-recorded, but there will likely be some in-person components such as workshops and Q&A sessions after the initial keynote.
