Apple is reportedly planning a major redesign of its entry-level iPad.
The Cupertino company is set to announce the tenth generation of its tablet later this year, and it will feature a major redesign that will bring it in line with the rest of the new-look range.
In recent years, Apple has overhauled the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and most recently the iPad mini with a new design language, and it’s the standard iPad’s turn next. According to DigiTimes, the new design will feature a 10.5-inch display with smaller bezels and perhaps a switch to USB-C.
In order to keep costs down, the device will not adopt Face ID and instead retain a Touch ID home button, but Apple could remove the headphone jack to bring it in line with the rest of the range. Apple is also likely to introduce an A14 Bionic chip and 5G support for the device.
It’s believed that Apple will announce the device this September, but with supply chain issues in China, the release of the device could be delayed. Apple typically holds a September event to show off new iPhones and Apple Watches, and follows it up with another event in October or November for iPads and MacBooks, so news of a September release could perhaps be incorrect.
Are you looking forward to getting your hands on the new iPad? Let us know and check back soon.
