Apple resumes Twitter advertising, says Elon Musk

Twitter

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that Apple has “fully resumed” advertising on the platform.

During a two-hour Twitter Spaces chat, Musk confirmed that Apple had resumed its advertising following a momentary pause, just days after Musk met with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Apple Campus. During the chat, it was also confirmed that Apple was Twitter’s largest advertiser, spending more on the platform on advertising than any other brand.

Last week, Musk published a series of tweets claiming that Apple “hated free speech” and was making “moderation demands” on the platform. He also suggested that Apple could pull the app from the App Store and that if it happened, Musk would be left with “no choice” but to launch his own smartphone to rival the iPhone.

Just days later, Musk met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and reversed a lot of his comments, deleting tweets and confirming that there had been a “misunderstanding” between the two companies. Tim Cook reportedly said that he “was clear that Apple never considered doing so.”

Since the news, Musk has posted to “thank advertisers for returning to Twitter.”
