Apple has said it will take a significant hit in Mac sales in the coming year.
Speaking during its latest earnings call, Apple CFO Luca Maestri said that it was prepared for a ‘signifiant hit’ in the first quarter of 2023, claiming sales will be down year-over-year because of the success of the December 2021 Max range, which saw a number of new MacBooks.
Indeed, Apple launched the M1 Pro and M1 Max 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models back in October 2021 and sales boomed as a result. The models not only featured new high-powered chips but an all-new design and sparked the beginning of a new era for the Mac, resulting in strong sales.
Apple believes that, because this year’s update won’t be quite as significant, sales will be down. Apple is still reportedly working on new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, as well as a new Mac mini, to be released before the end of the year with M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max chips.
