Apple has grown its iPhone sales in Europe, despite ongoing concerns of economic uncertainty.
According to new research published by Counterpoint Research, Apple grew its shipments in the European market, despite the smartphone sector taking a hit in the second quarter of 2022. Indeed, the smartphone market fell by 11% year-over-year, but Apple and Samsung managed to grow their shipments by 3% and 5% respectively.
Samsung is the top smartphone maker in Europe and now holds a 32% share of the market, whilst Apple comes in at second place during the second quarter of the year, responsible for 24% of the market. According to Counterpoint Research, the third-generation iPhone SE has helped Apple boost sales during the period, though the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro continue to sell well around the world, surpassing initial expectations from analysts.
Speaking of the news, Stryjak, Associate Director at Counterpoint, said: “… situation in Europe, unfortunately, remains bleak. Many countries in Europe are slipping closer to recession, and domestic political tensions in numerous countries beyond Russia and Ukraine are rising, for example in France, Germany and the UK.
“We remain hopeful, though, that the bottom has been reached and the trajectory should turn upwards soon, but the recovery will likely be long and slow.”
