Apple has been sending care packages to its employees in China following the coronavirus outbreak which has affected the country’s entire population, and Apple’s production lines.
The company has shipped out care packages containing food, medical supplies, treats like Hershey’s chocolates and Danisa traditional butter cookies, as well as a new 10.2-inch iPad.
“Dear Colleagues in Hubei and Wenzhou,” Apple said in a personalized letter.
“We hope this note finds you healthy and well.
“Since the last communication with you, we understand that you are all staying strong in this challenging time. We understand the difficulties you are facing and would like to provide our best support to you and your families. Hubei and the city of Wuhan have been hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak, which has now claimed 2,835 lives in China.”
“We are sending our best wishes to you, on behalf of the entire Apple Team, together with another CareKit for you and your families. In the kit, you will find comfort items and an iPad which can be used to facilitate children’s online learning or help pass the time during the prolonged stay at home,” the company added.
“In addition, a series of counselling and consultation services have been prepared especially for you to help you through this time,” the post concluded, suggesting free counselling was available.
The care package was shared on Chinese social network Weibo on Sunday, with an Apple employee showing off their care package to follow Apple enthusiasts in the Apple US chat.
The COVID-2019 virus is continuing to sweep the globe, with new cases and deaths now reported in the United States and the United Kingdom, amongst others.
Though Apple has reopened some of its retail outlets in China following an extended closure, the company will be directly hit because of supply chain issues which could last several months, and perhaps even cause Apple to delay the launch of new products such as the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro.
