Apple has sent out invitations for an unexpected event next month.
The Cupertino company has confirmed it will host an event on Monday, December 2 in New York City, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and is inviting select developers and media to attend.
Apple will reportedly be honoring its “favorite apps and games of 2019,” and whilst there’s no more information on what that means just yet, we’re expecting it to be an awards ceremony, based on its usual end-of-year apps showcase, where the year’s best developers are acknowledged.

Apple has never held an event of this nature in the past, but as the company looks towards its advertising and services arms to recoup the losses of slowing iPhone sales, this is perhaps a way for the firm to better build relationships with its most valued developers.
The firm usually shows off its ‘end of year’ blog posts and website to promote the best games, music, movies, TV shows, and podcasts from throughout the year.
Last year, Apple focused on content that had been shaping the entertainment industry around the world.
It seems unlikely that Apple will be lifting the lid on any hardware at this event, and it will instead be focused on celebrating some of the biggest talents in the app development world.
However, the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are tipped for a December release, so the firm could mention the launch date and show off the product – and perhaps even offer a Mac Pro to every attendee as a thank you for their hard work in building record-breaking applications.
