Apple will release its new iMac Pro in Spring 2022, according to reports.
The Cupertino company announced an overhaul of the 21.5-inch iMac earlier this year, introducing a stunning new design and bringing the iMac in line with the rest of the refreshed Mac family. Now, the 27-inch iMac is set to be given the same treatment but with new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and the reintroduction of the iMac Pro name to help better differentiate between the two models.
Analyst Ross Young has suggested that Apple will announce the new model in spring, so any time between March 20 and June 21, which would fall in line with Apple’s usual spring event. Apple could even hold off and premiere the new iMac at next year’s WWDC.
We had previously heard that Apple was working on an iMac with a display larger than 27-inches, but now it seems as though the 27-inch model will become the norm. Young says that Apple will use a mini-LED display similar to the MacBook Pro, supporting 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates.
There had been separate reports that Apple would transition to OLED displays for its Macs and iPads, but it seems as though we won’t have anything OLED-related before 2023 at the earliest.
