Apple has shared its holiday-themed video advertisement on YouTube.
In what has become a tradition for the Cupertino-based company, Apple shared its latest video ahead of Thanksgiving in the United States, telling the story of an American family.
After two children begin moaning and complaining about their trip, they’re handed an iPad and manage to entertain themselves until they get to their grandfather’s house.
Once there, they spend some quality time with their grandpa, who is mourning the loss of his wife. They look through family photos and, using Apple software and hardware, put together a slideshow of the family’s memories, offering it to their grandpa as a holiday gift.
In typical Apple fashion, the three-minute ad, titled The Surprise, pulls on the heartstrings whilst remaining true to the technology’s company’s core aim: to sell more of its hardware to consumers.
The advert features the song Married Life, performed by Michael Giacchino.
The song previously featured in Disney Pixar’s Up.
“Sometimes, the best gifts can come from the most unexpected places. Make someone’s holiday with iPad,” Apple writes in the video caption, linking people to buy an iPad on its website.
