Apple still working on AirPower-type device, says Bloomberg

Reports suggest the Apple AirPower is expected imminently. A wireless charging pad charges three Apple devices: an iPhone displaying a battery status screen, an Apple Watch showing a 63% charge, and AirPods in an open charging case. A single charging cable is connected to the pad.

Bloomberg has suggested that Apple is still working on its canceled AirPower charging pad.

First announced in 2017, Apple officially pulled the plug on the project in 2019, though has made some significant changes since its introduction, including bringing MagSafe to the iPhone 12.

However, a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests Apple is “exploring” ways to bring AirPower back to life, allowing users to charge their AirPods, iPhone, and Apple Watch simultaneously.

At the time of its cancelation, Apple said that its engineers couldn’t solve the bugs that caused the device to overheat. Several other brands have begun offering their own alternatives to AirPower, but the company’s official product is still something Apple fans want to get their hands on.
