According to a new report, Apple is still working on a hardware subscription service.
The company revealed its iPhone 14 range last week, and although the company wowed audiences and critics, some were left surprised that a new hardware subscription wasn’t announced, as had previously been reported.
According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the feature is now expected to launch later this year in the company’s “biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales.”
It’s thought that the service will tie into Apple One and AppleCare, and allow consumers to pay a monthly fee to receive the latest iPhone, as and when it’s released. Unlike instalment plans, users will never own their devices and instead ‘rent’ them, sending them back to Apple at the end of a pre-defined period.
Apple is currently “actively testing this new service,” according to the report.
Gurman added, “I do expect it to launch either later this year or next year.”
The company is widely expected to host another event next month, focused on iPads nad Macs, and this could be an opportunity for the Apple subscription bundle to be announced, right in time for the holiday season.
