Apple is still working on a new 27-inch iMac Pro, according to reports.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has suggested that a new large-screen iMac Pro would feature the M3 chip, so the chances are that the device isn’t coming any time soon. The company is reportedly working on the successor to the current 27-inch iMac and a reincarnation of the iMac Pro moniker, though it’s unlikely we’ll see the device before next year at the earliest.

Apple offered the iMac in two sizes for years, but recently downsized to just one 24-inch machine when it redesigned the iMac and added an M1 chip. Now, it appears as though the company is listening to comments from professionals and has a successor to the iMac Pro in the works, featuring the next-generation Silicon chip.

Gurman says that Apple is still working on “a larger-screened iMac aimed at the professional market,” and adds that the device will use M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. It’s thought that the combination of the Mac Studio and Studio Display “doesn’t cut it” for many professional users who want more screen real estate, and that Apple wants to offer an option for every workflow.
