Apple Store Tries Out New Floating Genius Bar

While in some ways it can be completely irritating to be desperate for an Apple device fix and have to schedule appointments just to get everything working right again, the Apple Store Genius Bar does operate like a well-oiled machine. They seem to be on the verge of changing it with a new floating Genius Bar, which makes more sense considering the amount of mobile devices they're working with.

The Daily City is reporting that there are two Apple Stores in Orlando and Philadelphia that are testing a new design. Users waiting for their appointments can now sit down at a large table with other users. Instead of standing around and getting frustrated, they can take a load off.

This is great thinking. While it was a great idea to have users shop and test out products while they were waiting, many don't do it and just get exasperated while waiting for their name to be called for their appointments. With this new design, not only can they sit down and relax, they can get out their iPhones and do some work, check their Facebook, etc.

The most interesting aspect of this report is examining which retailer is expanding and which retailer is downsizing. To incorporate this new floating Genius Bar design, the Orlando Apple Store is expanding into the empty store next to it that previously housed The Pottery Barn. It was slated to be taken over by Dell, but instead Dell has found themselves at a mall kiosk.

Are there any doubts left as to who the more popular electronic device maker is? It's the retailer who is coming up with new ideas, ones that are designed to make their customers more happy.
