Apple Stores Now Offering iPhone 5s Screen Replacements

1348222316No longer do users have to wait a whole business week after sending their broken phones for servicing. Apple is now offering in-store screen replacements for the iPhone 5s.

Like other screen replacement programs, the phone owner must bring in the damaged handset for evaluation. The user will then be provided a turnover time and a price estimate. Reportedly, replacements take only one hour to complete. Depending on the nature of the broken screen and whether the user has AppleCare+, repairs can cost around $149–not as a dear a price as the $256 fee for off-site replacements. AppleCare+ covers two accidental breakages “with a $79 service fee.”

Once the phone is evaluated, service begins with an examinationfor water damage and other hardware failures that may necessitate comprehensive off-site repair or replacement.” After this quick inspection, the phone will be ready for screen repairs. It is thought that Apple is using the same machine as that used for iPhone 5 and 5c repairs to align and install iPhone 5s displays. In-store service was extended to the iPhone 5c in January of this year.

If you’re planning to have your 5s repaired onsite, call the store to ensure that onsite screen replacements are available. Unfortunately, onsite servicing may not be available at every Apple store.
