Foxconn CEO Terry Gou announced just yesterday that they will be investing $10 billion in the United States, to building a new factory in Wisconsin. The factory is expected to create 3,000 jobs, but this number could be as high as 13,000.
Over the next three years, a 20,000 square-foot plant will be constructed and it is possible future plants will be built in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The announcement was made at the White House and Walker, Vice President Mike Pence, Paul Ryan and even Trump was present.
Trump’s vision
Since the start of his Presidency, Trump has been focusing on job creation for American citizens. He even promised incentives for companies that moved production to the United States.
Only this week Trump announced Apple’s plans for building three big factories in the US. It is unclear if this new factory in Wisconsin is one of these three plants mentioned earlier this week.
Apple’s involvement
This brand new factory will produce large LCD displays, used in TVs and other large electronics. It might also produce for smaller displays in the future as Gou has announced Apple is willing to invest in the factory.
Yesterday, Gou thanked Trump for his involvement:
“We are thrilled to build a state-of-the art display fabrication plant in America’s heartland, which will be the first of a series of facilities we are building in several US states,” Gou said at the event.
“We thank President Trump and Governor Walker for their work to bring Foxconn to Wisconsin. Wisconsin offers a talented, hardworking workforce, and a long track record in advanced manufacturing, all of which presents an extraordinary opportunity.”
