Apple could introduce USB-C to its 2019 iPhones, according to a new rumor.
According to a tweet from ChargerLAB, Apple is set to remove its 5-watt Lightning adaptor in its 2019 iPhones and replace it with a USB-C charger that would offer twice the charging speed of the old connector.
According to the tweet, the leak was confirmed by a “high-level executive” ahead of Apple’s iPhone unveiling, expected to take place on September 10.

It’s important to note that ChargerLAB has a mixed track record on Apple rumors, having previously reported that Apple would introduce USB-C charging in last year’s iPhones.
They were right on their rumor of Apple introducing a USB-C charger on its iPad Pro, though.
Earlier in the year, the Hong Kong website also said that Apple’s AirPower had entered mass production – just weeks before the company officially pulled the plug on the project entirely.
This latest rumor, though, should be taken with a little more credibility.
Earlier in the year, another Asian technology website said Apple could introduce a new USB-C connector in this year’s iPhone.
Indeed, Mac Otakara said Apple would include a USB-C to Lightning cable in its 2019 iPhones, which corresponds to other rumors suggesting the iPhone would come with a bigger and more powerful charging block to accommodate faster charging.
Apple is widely expected to announce three new iPhones at a Special Event next month, and those iPhones will follow in the same vein as last year’s models – a successor to the XS, a larger Max version, and a more affordable iPhone XR successor with an LCD display.
All three new iPhones are expected to include new rear camera set-ups, with the XS and XS Max successors featuring three cameras on the rear for the first time, and the XR featuring a dual-lens camera set-up for the first time. Apart from that, little is known about the changes.
