Apple to Include 18W Charger with 2019 iPhones

Apple will almost certainly include a faster USB-C power adapter with its 2019 iPhones, according to a new report by Mac Otakara.

Fresh details have emerged from the blog, suggesting that the company will include a new faster 18W USB-C power adapter and a Lightning to USB-C cable with each iPhone.

If the rumor turns out to be true, then Apple will finally begin to support the fast charging functionality it offered with the iPhone 8 and above, offering up to 50 percent charge in just half an hour.

With a new USB-C power adapter, the company will allow users to enjoy a faster charge right out of the box, for minimal cost on Apple’s side.

Users who want to take advantage of fast charging functionality must spend $48 to buy an 18W USB-C power adapter and Lightning to USB-C cable from Apple, however, it’s possible to find cheaper alternatives on the internet, albeit without an Apple guarantee.

If Apple does bundle a Lightning to USB-C cable with its new iPhones, it would mean that for the first time, users who purchase a new iPhone would be able to connect their phone to their MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and the new iPad Pro via cable.

Apple reportedly planned to introduce a new fast-charging adapter in 2018, but those rumors turned out to be for the 2018 iPad Pro.

However, this is the second time a rumor about a new charging adapter for the new iPhone models has been leaked, suggesting that there’s some truth to the rumor and that Apple will introduce an 18W charging adapter as standard.

Mac Otakara’s report also goes over some of the rumors we’ve already heard, including a new triple-lens rear camera on the successor to the iPhone XS and XS Max, and a dual-lens rear camera on the iPhone XR successor.

All three iPhones will also include two-way wireless charging, allowing users to charge friends’ phones and Apple Watches from the rear of their iPhones for the first time.

Samsung introduced a similar feature this year on its Galaxy S10 model.

Are you excited to see Apple introduce a new more powerful charging cable?
