iPad

Apple will transition to OLED displays for its iPad from next year, according to a new report.

The company added mini-LED to its 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and now the firm wants to add OLED displays for some of its other iPads. That’s according to ETNews, a publication that has a mixed track record when it comes to reporting Apple news and information. Their report suggests that Apple has “confirmed” it would switch to OLED on the iPad.

“According to the industry on the 31st, Apple decided to apply OLED instead of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) from some iPad models in 2022. It is reported that Apple and display companies have agreed on production and delivery,” the news network reported.

The news corrpberates with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s suggestion that the firm would introduce OLED diplays to iPads in 2022, starting with the iPad Air. The company reportedly does not want to introduce OLED displays to its productivity devices scuh as MacBooks because of fears over burn-in, but argues that the issue won’t be a problem on iPads such as the iPad Air and iPad mini.
