Apple to launch Emergency SOS via Satellite in UK next week

Emergency-SOS

Apple will reportedly turn on Emergency SOS via Satellite in the United Kingdom next week.

The company is planning to expand the service in the United Kingdom, according to MacRumors, with emergency services in the country reportedly briefed on the upcoming launch.

It’s thought that the feature will be routed to local emergency services facilities from Tuesday, 13 December.

Apple launched Emergency SOS via Satellite in the United States and Canada in November, and the service has already reportedly helped save a user’s life. The company has confirmed that the scheme will launch in territories like France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK, and it seems as though the UK will be the first to benefit from it. However, with just a couple of weeks until Christmas, the service will likely launch in these other territories momentarily.

Emergency SOS via Satellite is available for all iPhone 14 users with iOS 16.1 or above.

Apple says that Emergency SOS via Satellite is free for two years. After that, we expect the company to begin charging for the service or bundle it in with its Apple One subscription package.
