Apple to Launch New Search Engine?

Tech giant Apple has sparked rumors that it is about to launch its own search engine. The speculation comes after a job advertisement was placed for an Engineering Project Manager to work on a project called Apple Search.

Apple’s deal with Google to use their search engine on the Safari browser comes to an end later this year. The job description says:  “Apple seeks a technical, driven and creative programme manager to manage backend operations projects for a search platform supporting hundreds of millions of users.

“Play a part in revolutionizing how people use their computers and mobile devices. Manage operational projects that support groundbreaking technology and the most scalable big-data systems in existence.”

Apple are looking for a candidate with at least 3 years’ experience “as an Engineering Product Manager, Programme Manager or Project Manager or similar role leading cross functional teams”. The candidate should have working on “large scale infrastructure projects”. The winning candidate will be based at Apple’s San Francisco headquarters.
