Apple is offering its employees a $1,000 bonus to thank them for their service after a difficult year.
According to Bloomberg, the Cupertino company will pay employees one-time bonuses of up to $1,000 depending on the length of their service. The bonus will be offered to those who’ve been working in its retail stores during the COVID-19 pandemic as a ‘thank you’ for their dedication and commitment in recent months.
Those who were hired by Apple before March 31, 2021 will be given a $1,000 bonus, whilst employees who arrive after that date will be given $500.
Those who are hired for the upcoming holiday season will be given a $200 credit to thank them for their time. Those eligible include retail staff, online sales teams, and AppleCare experts.
It’s rare for Apple to give employees bonuses, but the firm did previously offer $2,500 credit to purchase restricted stock units to its employees. This bonus was offered as part of a new US tax law.
Unlike this incentive, the new bonus will be offered as a paycheck rather than on stock units, allowing them to spend the cash on whatever they want in the run-up to the holiday season.
