Apple to premiere new Israeli series on Apple TV+ More new shows are coming to Apple TV+ - but you'll need subtitles.

Apple has confirmed that it will premiere new foreign-language shows on Apple TV+.

With the coronavirus pandemic causing popular shows like The Morning Show to halt filming, executives have been looking elsewhere for fresh content, and one place is in foreign markets.

Appleā€™s latest acquisition is two new Israeli series, which will premiere soon.

Tehran is a spy thriller from Moshe Zonder, who previously worked on Netflixā€™s Fauda. This will mark Apple TV+ā€™s first entry into foreign-language content, with most of the dialogue spoken in Hebrew and Farsi.

Apple will premiere the first three episodes of the show – alongside subtitles – on September 25, and the rest of the season will premiere weekly.

Whatā€™s interesting to note is that the show has already aired in full in its homeland, and so Apple is only acquiring the rights to international streaming. Itā€™s a new move for Apple, who had previously said everything it streamed would be new, exclusive, and homegrown.

Apple has also acquired Losing Alice, a psychological thriller.

The show will also premiere later in the year, though a release date for this has yet to be confirmed. The idea is that Apple will continue to look for quality shows and acquire them for their exclusive streaming.

During the lockdown, Apple has signed off on a whole host of new movies and televisions series to shoot as soon as restrictions are lifted, though itā€™s likely that current ā€œcontent slumpā€ will be in place for the foreseeable future.

Apple will air two new original series this week, including Ted Lasso and Boys State, and more homegrown content is expected soon.
