Apple to release new external display within next year

Apple is reportedly working on a new external display to add to its growing Mac range.

The company released the Apple’s Pro Display XDR a couple of years ago, but it’s an expensive offering priced at around $5,000, meaning it’s out of budget for all but the most professional users. However, it now seems like Apple is testing a new external display that would incorporate an A13 chip and Neural Engine to offer consumers another choice when looking for their next Mac.

It’s reported that the model is being developed using the code J327, but we don’t have any specifics on the technical side of the model just yet. It’s thought that the new device will feature Apple’s own SoC, alongside Neural Engine to improve machine learning tasks.

By bringing the GPU and CPU into the display rather than relying on the Mac’s specifications, the company could help consumers enjoy better graphics without relying on the computer’s resources.

It’s also possible that Apple could work out a way to combine the power of the SoC on the display, and the Mac’s SoC, to improve performance when running graphics-intensive tasks like gaming or rendering video content.
