Apple to release redesigned Mac mini with more ports in the coming months

Apple to release redesigned Mac mini

Apple will release a new version of its Mac mini with a redesigned chassis and more ports, according to reports.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that the new model will come in the “next several months,” suggesting a release is imminent. Apple updated the Mac mini in 2020 with the all-new M1 chip, but it was just the processor that changed with the update, and everything else from the Mac mini was carried over from the previous version.

Apple is slowly revamping its entire Mac product category, starting with the stunning new iMac design released earlier this year. A new MacBook Pro design is also set to follow later in September or October, and now it seems like the Mac mini will also be given some love and feature a new design for the next generation of computing.

Gurman thinks that Apple will continue to sell an Intel-based Mac mini alongside a new M1X or M2 Mac mini, as many will continue to “use it as a software development machine, as a server, or for their video editing needs.”

Earlier in the month, Mark suggested that Apple would first overhaul the MacBook Pro but shortly follow the release with a new Mac mini. Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record when it comes to Apple products, thinks the device will sport a more industrial look in the years to come with a ‘plexiglass’ reflective top.
