Apple to stream Global Citizen and the World Health Organization special

Apple and other giants will stream a Global Citizen and the World Health Organization One World: Together At Home global special to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The special, the brainchild of Lady Gaga, will be broadcast around the world on April 18 at 5 pm PT 8 pm EST on major networks in the United States like ABC, NBC, ViacomCBS Networks, and iHeartMedia, alongside BBC One in the United Kingdom, and digital streaming services Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo, and YouTube.

The show is designed to offer unity amongst people who have been affected by the virus so far, and celebrating and supporting those who are working to save lives.

Speaking of the global broadcast during the WHO’s press briefing on Monday, Lady Gaga revealed that $35 million has already been raised over the past seven days to support the WHO’s efforts – including a generous $10 million donation offered by Apple’s Tim Cook.

“It is so important to think globally and support the World Health Organization to curb the pandemic and prevent future outbreaks,” Lady Gaga said of the upcoming event. “We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented, and cultural movement.”

Stream the One World: Together At Home special on Apple Music on Sunday, April 18.
