Clearly buoyed by the release of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, Apple had the leading share of China’s smartphones sales in September, according to new statistics.
These statistics are from Counterpoint Research, which reported that Apple sold 7 million iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus units that month, meaning a 19% market share. This put the Cupertino company just ahead of Huawei in second place and third-placed Xiaomi, while Samsung was left a distant fourth, having seen its smartphone sales sharply fall.
These findings, published today by AppleInsider, are part of Counterpoint’s Monthly Market Pulse data. The research firm says that this data “is based on sell-through (sales) surveyed at major mass retailers, distributors across different markets (35 countries) by Counterpoint Research’s team plus cross checks with supply chain surveys, demand-side surveys & expert Analyst estimates, to complete the global monthly sales database.”
Counterpoint’s Research Director, Tom Kang, declared that “Apple has now conquered the Chinese market” and “is becoming an embedded brand in China, standing for luxury and high quality.” It is later today that Apple will report its global earnings for the September quarter.
