Back in January 2020, it was reported that Apple TV+ ordered a dark dramedy series set in the 1980s titled Physical, created and written by Annie Weisman. Tomorrow Studios was set to produce the series for Apple. Not long after that, it was reported that the series would consist of ten 30-minute episodes with several directorial names being attached to the show.
At the same time, it was announced that Rose Byrne would be playing the protagonist Sheila Rubin, with Paul Sparks, Rory Scovel, Lou Taylor Pucci, Della Saba, Dierdre Friel, and Ashley Liao joining the cast. Geoffrey Arend joined the cast in January 2021, with Ian Gomez joining in April 2021.
AV Club summarized the show’s plot as follows: “Byrne’s Sheila Rubin lives in a beach paradise but is quietly tortured by her lifestyle as a subdued, dutiful housewife to a controversial husband who is running for state assembly. She is also battling a personal struggle related to her self-image. Sheila finally finds a release in the unlikeliest of sources: the colorful world of aerobics in the ‘80s.”
Now, this show is certainly going to have its fair share of humor and serious moments, and the vivid world of the 1980s music is certainly going to entertain us from June 18, 2021, when the show’s first episode debuts on Apple TV+. But, Apple recently debuted the show’s first trailer ahead of its premiere and you can check it out here:
Rose Byrne is a talented actress and from the first trailer, we can deduce that the show is going to be very entertaining. June is just around the corner, so we won’t have to wait very long for the show to hit the screens, which is absolutely great news, as it seems that Apple is going to have another hit on its roster this summer.
