Apple Unveils 9.7-Inch iPad Pro with Apple Pencil Support

Apple has just brought many of the key features of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro to what the company claims is the most popular iPad size. Welcome the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, with Apple Pencil support, quad speakers, 12-megapixel camera and a dynamic True Tone display.

At Apple’s “Let us loop you in” event in Cupertino today, the company’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Phil Schiller, dubbed the new tablet “the ultimate PC replacement”. The device’s True Tone display uses four-channel ambient light sensors to discern the color of ambient light before adjusting the display accordingly – allowing for a more consistently pleasant viewing experience.

The new iPad Pro is also powered by its larger brother’s A9X processor – which, according to Schiller, is more powerful than an Xbox 360. The device also comes with a Smart Connector for compatibility with new peripherals also unveiled today, and is available in silver, gold, space gray and rose gold.

The tablet, which will become available for preorder on March 24, will be priced from $599 for the 32GB WiFi version, rising up to $899 for the WiFi variant of the top end 256GB model.
