Apple Voted Coolest Brand in the UK For Fourth Year Running

It’s official – Apple is Britain’s coolest brand. For the fourth year in a row, the iPhone maker has topped the CoolBrands Top 20, which consults expert and consumer opinion to rank the UK’s coolest brands.

This annual barometer, which has been running since 2001, sees Apple just ahead of glasses manufacturer Ray-Ban and music festival Glastonbury in respective second and third place. The next highest-ranked tech player in the just-released new list for 2015/16 is video streaming provider Netflix in fifth, while Instagram is seventh and YouTube meets ninth.

Apple’s biggest global tech rival, Google, only managed twelfth position, while Spotify, the most obvious rival to music streaming service Apple Music, was eleventh. CoolBrands Council chairman Stephen Cheliotis notes that featuring in the list “takes time and isn’t the result of a one year fad or flash in the pan”.

So soon after the exciting launch of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, this news should be another big boost to Apple. The rankings are decided by CoolBrands’ own Expert Council and the votes of 2,500 members of the British public, and brands are unable to apply or pay to be considered for inclusion on the list.
