Apple Wallet Expired Passes are easy to forget about—until you suddenly need one. Maybe you’re trying to submit an expense report. Maybe a venue asks for proof of attendance. Maybe you just want to keep a digital record of a flight, concert, or trip that meant something. The good news: expired doesn’t mean deleted.
Apple Wallet quietly archives old passes instead of erasing them. They’re still there, just tucked away.
Here’s how to find them and what you can do once you do.
How to Find Expired Passes in Apple Wallet
- Open Wallet on your iPhone
- Scroll all the way to the bottom of your passes
- Tap “View Expired Passes”
That’s it. Apple places expired boarding passes, event tickets, store cards, and other time-sensitive passes in this archive section automatically once their validity date passes.
If you don’t see the option, make sure your iPhone is updated:
Settings > General > Software Update
Expired passes don’t show up in the main stack because Wallet prioritizes active and usable items. But they remain stored locally on your device.

Can You Reactivate an Expired Pass?
It depends on the type of pass.
Boarding passes and one-time event tickets usually can’t be reactivated. They’re tied to a specific date and QR code that has already been used.
Loyalty cards, membership passes, and some store cards may still function. If they appear expired but you believe they should remain active, contact the issuer. Often the pass simply needs to be reissued.
If the pass supports updates, it may refresh automatically once the issuer sends a new version.
You can also check whether the original app connected to the pass is still installed. Some passes update through their companion apps.
Why Keep Expired Passes?
There are practical reasons.
- Travel reimbursement often requires proof of boarding.
- Concert insurance claims may require ticket confirmation.
- Business events sometimes ask for attendance documentation.
Even beyond that, there’s a sentimental side. Digital boarding passes have replaced paper stubs. Many people scroll through expired passes like a digital scrapbook.
If you prefer to keep them for records, simply leave them archived. If you want to remove them:
- Open Wallet
- Scroll to expired section
- Select the pass
- Tap the three dots (•••)
- Tap Remove Pass
Once removed, it cannot be recovered unless the issuer sends it again.

Accessing Transaction Records Linked to Wallet
If you’re looking for payment history rather than a pass itself:
Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Select Card > Transactions
This shows recent activity linked to Apple Pay cards.
For older transactions:
- Open the issuing bank’s app
- Or log into your bank’s website
- Wallet stores passes, but financial record depth depends on the card provider.
What If an Expired Pass Disappears?
If you removed a pass and need documentation:
- Check the original issuer’s app
- Check email confirmation from purchase
- Log into the airline, event, or service website
Many providers maintain downloadable ticket history inside their accounts.

Storage and Organization Tips
If you use Wallet heavily for travel and events, consider simple habits:
- Remove passes you truly don’t need.
- Keep meaningful ones archived.
- Screenshot important QR codes before events as backup.
- Download PDFs of tickets for business use.
Apple Wallet Expired Passes are not clutter. They’re part of your digital trail—flights taken, stadium seats filled, conferences attended.
