Apple Watch 2 Unlikely to Launch in March, Sources Suggest

If you’ve been putting off buying an Apple Watch due to rumors of the second generation model arriving soon, you might actually have to wait a little longer, according to unnamed sources cited by TechCrunch.

Back in December, it was reported that Apple was preparing a March event at which a whole new hardware model of the Apple Watch could be announced. However, TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino has claimed that, judging from “several sources”, we’re more likely to see design partnerships and accessories, akin to the Watch-related reveals in September, than a second generation Watch.

Furthermore, Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin has told Panzarino that supply chain checks have failed to unearth evidence that a new Watch model is currently in production. The analyst remarked that “the timing does seem suspect for a new product given orders would have taken place in the latter half of 2015 if a new product is shipping first half of 2016”.

Nonetheless, other sources have revealed to Panzarino that an event could still be “in at least the early planning stages for March”. Apple declined to comment when TechCrunch pressed the firm about the second generation Apple Watch and rumored March event.
