Apple Watch Found a Year After Going Missing with Find My We've seen numerous stories of Apple devices being reunited with their owners after being lost for extended periods, often in challenging conditions. This time, the story revolves around Jared Brick, who recovered his Apple Watch more than a year after losing it in the Caribbean, thanks to Appleā€™s Find My feature.

Jared Brick shared his remarkable experience in a YouTube video, detailing the events that transpired during a trip to the Caribbean in June 2022. The trip was a celebration of his son’s birthday, and both Brick and his son had new Apple Watches to stay in touch without the need for a phone.

Brick, an avid scuba diver, regularly took his watch on his dives, relying on its certification for water resistance up to 50 meters. However, during one of his dives, he was so captivated by the underwater beauty that he didnā€™t notice his Apple Watch slipping off his wrist.

ā€œIā€™m wearing it and poof, it’s gone, slide off my wrist and into the water. I didnā€™t realize it at the time, so distracted by the true beauty of that place,ā€ Brick recounted.

Upon realizing his loss, Brick used Appleā€™s Find My to mark the device as lost. Despite his hopes, he doubted he would ever see the watch again. Yet, in December of the following year, he received a voicemail from someone in the Caribbean claiming to have found his Apple Watch.

The watch was still functional, and thanks to Find My, it displayed a message with Brickā€™s contact information. The finder, Jonathan, shipped the Apple Watch back to Brick in California, where he confirmed its identity and functionality.

ā€œSo amazing, so big thank you to Jonathan in the Caribbean for finding it, contacting me, shipping it back to me and for Apple for making such an amazing technology that works,ā€ Brick celebrated.

Appleā€™s Find My to the Rescue

This story adds to the growing list of successful recoveries made possible by Appleā€™s Find My feature. Last year, outlets such as 9to5Mac covered two similar incidents involving the Apple Watch. One involved a man who lost his watch during a schooner trip, while another case featured a 9to5Mac reader who lost his Apple Watch Ultra while diving into a lake. Both were able to recover their devices thanks to Find My.

Appleā€™s Find My feature is designed to work even when devices are offline by sending signals to other nearby Apple devices. This makes it crucial for users to ensure the feature is enabled on their devices for such eventualities.

Brickā€™s story is a testament to the resilience of Apple devices and the effectiveness of the Find My feature. Whether one is diving into the ocean or exploring new places, Appleā€™s technology continues to prove its value in unexpected ways, bringing lost items back to their rightful owners.
