Apple Watch Gaining Holiday Sales Momentum, Says Analyst

Many people could wake up on Christmas Day to find an Apple Watch under the tree. That’s judging from a key analyst’s observation that the wearable has been showing signs of rising popularity as the holiday shopping season gets underway.

The FBR Capital Markets analyst Dan Ives has maintained an “outperform” rating on Apple’s stock, pointing out that “growing interest” in the Apple Watch could be discerned during checks at various Apple, Target and Best Buy stores during the morning of Black Friday.

In a new note referred to by MarketWatch, Ives told clients that FBR expects between 5 and 6 million Apple Watch units to be sold just in December. This is an impressive prediction, given that it nearly matches the figure of approximately 6 million units that the investment banking firm estimates have been shifted in total since the wearable’s initial arrival in April.
